Multi-Site Organisations
For organisations occupying more than one location, calls between sites usually accounts for a significant proportion of their quarterly billing. With a multi-site VoIP solution from Future Voice and Data, this can be cut to zero – this means that often the solution can pay for itself by way of these savings in very short timescales.
The advantages of multi-site VoIP extend beyond merely saving costs however – extra functionality can also be realised. VoIP linked systems provide features that are normally associated with being on a single system, such as dialling by extension number across sites, or cross-site busy lamp filed (extension status notification) allowing users to see if their colleague is on the phone by looking at a button on their handset, even if that colleague is at another site.
Incoming calls can also be distributed across sites, dependent upon availability and workload – permitting organisations to use a single contact number for clients and partners. This both provides better, more consistent service to callers, as well as more efficient utilisation of human resources for the implementing organisation.
Increased resiliency and redundancy can also be realised, through intelligent “fall-back” routes that can re-route outbound calls across the VoIP link and out through another site’s connection, should the lines go down, or be all in use.
An alternative option is to do away with the system entirely at branch offices, and have a single, larger system at head office. The satellite offices have IP phones that connect back to the main office over a VoIP link. This scenario can result in major cost savings due to the consolidation of lines and hardware, as well as increased inter-site functionality due to the remote sites being extensions of the main system.
